What the Board Does
The board is responsible for the organization’s overall direction and accountability. In practice, that includes:
- Setting strategy and priorities for programs, partnerships, and preservation advocacy
- Providing financial oversight and ensuring responsible use of funds
- Supporting fundraising and community relationships
- Hiring and supporting any staff or contractors as our capacity grows
- Upholding good governance, transparency, and ethical standards
How We Work
We’re rebuilding Friends to be a steady, reliable partner for the community and for funders. We aim to govern with clarity and consistency—using clear policies, healthy decision-making practices, and a long-term view of what Memorial Hall needs to thrive.
Committees
Board committees help us do the work between meetings and deepen expertise in key areas. Committees may include:
- Programming
- Development
- Facilities Advocacy
(Committee names and structure may evolve as the organization grows.)
Friends of Historic Memorial Hall is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Our board members serve in a volunteer capacity.
