Leave a lasting gift for arts & culture in the Deerfield Valley
A legacy gift is a simple way to support Friends of Historic Memorial Hall beyond your lifetime. It helps ensure that arts and culture continue to thrive here—supporting programming, artists, community access, and the long-term strength of Friends as an organization.

Common ways to make a legacy gift
Include Friends in your will or trust
You can name Friends of Historic Memorial Hall in your will or living trust with a gift of:
- A specific dollar amount
- A percentage of your estate
- The remainder (what’s left after other gifts)
Name Friends as a beneficiary
You can designate Friends as a beneficiary of:
- A retirement account (IRA, 401(k), etc.)
- A life insurance policy
- Certain investment accounts (depending on the account type)
This is often one of the easiest ways to make a legacy gift, and it can usually be updated directly through your account provider.
Sample bequest language
If you or your attorney would find it helpful, here is sample language you can use. (Please make sure the legal name and EIN match Friends’ official records.)
Unrestricted gift (recommended):
“I give to Friends of Historic Memorial Hall (EIN: 46-3725535), located at 14 West Main St, Wilmington, VT 05363, the sum of $______ (or ______% of my estate / the residue of my estate) to be used for its general charitable purposes.”
Restricted gift (if you prefer to direct your gift):
“I give to Friends of Historic Memorial Hall (EIN: 46-3725535), located at 14 West Main St, Wilmington, VT 05363, the sum of $______ (or ______% / residue) to support [purpose].”
Tip: If you’re considering a restricted gift, we encourage you to contact us first so we can confirm the purpose is workable long-term and aligns with Friends’ evolving needs.
